As an Accredited Member ofThe International Society of Appraisers he has passed an intensive series of tests on appraising and the nationally required Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) test. His accreditation was renewed in 2010.
Additionally, he is Certified inAntique and Decorative Arts Appraisal Studies at The George Washington University, Washington, DC.He has also studied antiques at The Du Pont Winterthur Museum for American Decorative Arts in Delaware and The Williamsburg Institute in Virginia.
Greer serves as one of five people on the Decorative Arts Acquisition Committee for The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the City's largest and oldest public museum. This committee researches and purchases rare and fine antiques, glass, silver and other decortaive objects for the museum.
For three years he wrote a monthly column on antiques for The Commercial Appeal titled “Mid-South Treasures” in which he featured an outstanding or unusual antique he had come across in his appraisal business.
